Degree project

One of my requirements for this submission is to create a short preview video of my work that introduces and explains what my project is all about, so I have uploaded one on to my YouTube channel: 

Now that my artifact is complete, I shall evaluate my music video in terms of audiences, distribution and cultural contexts.  Last year I made a video during the first lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic, where I was extremely limited on how and what I was able to film. My main goal with this music video was to create the complete opposite of that video; I wanted to make something that had more thought behind it, and actually featured a person in the video. I also mainly wanted to have fun with it, and film something that was visually-pleasing, glamorous and enjoyable to watch. I believe I have successfully achieved these goals with my final product, whilst also meeting the cultural contexts related to my artefact. For example, for my work I was very inspired by the music video for 'Say So' by Doja Cat, which features bright, sunny cinematography with vintage filters and sparkly effects added in post production. To mimic this style, I made sure to film in sunlight wherever possib

Now that my final edit is finally done, it is time to colour grade my work and make the whole piece look a lot more cohesive and aesthetically pleasing. Some of the darker shots definitely had to be touched up with brightness and contrast because once I tried to export the final edit, those shots looked a lot darker once exported than they did whilst I was editing them in Premiere Pro. For the main colours I wanted the video to look very soft and bright and really accentuate the sun in the brighter shots. To do this I flicked through some of the Pre-sets on the Premiere Pro Lumetri Colour option to find a good base, and I settled on 'KODAK 5218 KODAK 2395 (by Adobe)'. I then adjusted the hue, saturation, sharpness etc. on each of the shots until I was happy with how each one turned out.  There is plenty of footage and shots that I decided where not usable in my final edit, so I wanted to showcase some of those shots here on my blog.

My final edit is almost complete. After this I will be playing around with colouring and filters and making it look a lot prettier, as well as adding some effects I have found on some tutorials on YouTube. Here is how my timeline is looking. 

 Not much to say really other than I am continuing to edit. I'm really starting to get a feel for how the video is going to look. Here is how my timeline is looking now.
